“Often in casual conversation I'll be abruptly reminded that I haven't come out to someone yet, and they think I'm straight. It's always bizarre to realize that the way they've been thinking of me is so different from the life I'm actually living. This has made me pretty outspoken about being a lesbian. I'm also always flagging in subtle (or sometimes not-so-subtle) ways when I'm in public.”
